A Stylish Escape Like No Other

From the moment you step inside Urban Cowboy Lodge, you’re swept into an artistic and perfectly curated world that manages to be both rustic and glamorous. What struck me the most was how this place isn’t like many themed hotels that only impress with their guest rooms. Here, every corner of the lodge—from floor to ceiling—oozes style and personality. It feels like you’ve been transported to a western-inspired dream.

Handcrafted Southwestern Splendor

The details here are truly special. Walking across the solid wood floors and sinking into well-worn leather chairs, you can feel the lodge’s rich, handcrafted heritage. Antlers are integrated into everything from chandeliers to small décor touches, giving the space a true western charm that’s so well executed, it feels authentic rather than kitschy. And I have to say, Clinton Van Gemert’s hand-printed patterns on the walls and ceilings are an absolute highlight—adding an artistic vibe that really ties everything together. There’s something about the combination of vintage musical instruments, animal skulls, and taxidermy that made me smile. It’s quirky in the best way, with a perfect balance of cowboy nostalgia and modern cool.

A Warm Welcome, Whiskey in Hand

One thing that makes Urban Cowboy Lodge stand out is its check-in experience. Rather than the usual routine, they take things up a notch by offering a whiskey at check-in. Yes, really—a complimentary whiskey! This unique touch, along with the check-in desk doubling as a bar straight out of an Old West saloon, makes the arrival feel like the start of something special. It’s those thoughtful details that immediately set the tone for a stay that’s anything but ordinary.

From Brooklyn to the Catskills and Beyond

It’s fascinating to learn that Urban Cowboy began in Brooklyn, New York, back in 2014, thanks to founders Lyon Porter and Jersey Banks. Though the original Brooklyn site is now a design studio, the brand has found its true home in the Catskills and Nashville, where these stunning properties continue to evolve. What’s especially noteworthy is how every location embraces the same philosophy—exceptional design, top-tier service, and a lively, welcoming atmosphere. I’ve had the chance to visit both the Catskills and Nashville, and the on-site bar and restaurant at each location are some of the best meals I’ve enjoyed while traveling.

A Sophisticated Summer Camp for Adults

One of my favorite things about Urban Cowboy is its adults-only policy. It feels like a grown-up version of summer camp, but with a sense of sophistication. The shared spaces encourage a sense of community, yet there’s a raw authenticity in the décor that grounds the whole experience. Sitting by the fire with live music playing in the background, I couldn’t help but feel transported to another time—a simpler, more relaxed era that made me want to stay forever.

Exceptional Dining and Drinks

Honestly, it’s hard to beat the food and drinks here. The restaurants and bars are a must-visit. Whether you’re in the mood for a craft cocktail or craving something hearty, Urban Cowboy nails it every time. The drinks are expertly crafted, and the food—well, let’s just say I’ve been thinking about some of the dishes long after my stay. It’s clear the attention to detail extends to their dining experience, which feels every bit as intentional as the design.

The Kind of Place You’ll Never Want to Leave

Urban Cowboy Lodge is the kind of place you’ll rave about long after your stay. The blend of handcrafted design, fantastic hospitality, and its quirky yet authentic vibe make it stand out from any other lodge experience I’ve had.

If you’re planning a getaway to the Catskills or Nashville and want something that’s both laid-back and luxurious, Urban Cowboy Lodge is an absolute must. After all, how often do you get to feel like you’ve stepped into a completely different world, whiskey in hand?
